iPod Sales Hit 100 Million Mark
It’s already introduced ten different versions, spawned thousands of accessories, and changed forever the way Americans listen to music. And now, the iPod has crossed into nine-figure sales territory.
Apple announced Monday that the 100 millionth iPod had been sold, in the five-plus years since the product was first introduced.
The milestone is indicative of the product’s astonishing growth; Apple had celebrated the sale of the 50 millionth iPod only last year. In addition, Apple’s iTunes store sold its 2 billionth song in January, barely a year after crossing the 1 billion mark.
