Apple’s Week of Updates Rolls On with New AirPods
It’s been hard to keep up with all of the news coming from Apple’s neck of the woods recently after three consecutive days of major product updates. Kicking off the week was the introduction of a new iPad Air and iPad mini, followed by an update to the iMac line, and now the company announced its release of the next generation of AirPods.
Apple’s latest press release revealed that the wireless headphones feature a newly designed H1 chip developed specifically for the headphones. This will allow AirPods to deliver up to 50 percent more talk time compared to the first generation. Users will also notice a connection that is twice as fast as before when toggling between their iPhone, Apple Watch or iPad, which can now be done through Siri. This new feature makes it easy for users to change songs, make a call, adjust the volume, or get directions simply by using their voice.
In the press release that went out this morning, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing, Phil Schiller said:
“AirPods delivered a magical wireless experience and have become one of the most beloved products we’ve ever made. They connect easily with all of your devices, and provide crystal clear sound and intuitive, innovative control of your music and audio. The world’s best wireless headphones just got even better with the new AirPods. They are powered by the new Apple-designed H1 chip which brings an extra hour of talk time, faster connections, hands-free ‘Hey Siri’ and the convenience of a new wireless battery case.”
Bundles for the new AirPods include a standard charging case ($159), or the new Wireless Charging Case ($199) that is compatible with all generations of AirPods, and available for standalone purchase ($79). Customers can also opt to include a personal engraving on their charging case for no additional cost.
