Appliance Trends for Holiday ‘08 at Nationwide PrimeTime
From a wide angle, it looks rather as if someone has spilled a giant box of Trix all over the convention center showfloor here at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. Such are the bright colors on display at the Nationwide Marketing Group’s semi-annual meeting, PrimeTime, which runs through the end of the day. Whirpool is showing its Duet laundry sets in “Aspen,” “Ocean Blue” and “Tuscan Chestnut.” Elextrolux adds tropical notes with with “Turquoise Sky,” and “Mediterranean Blue.”
And LG, the company which first introduced ultra-vivid color to the appliances market three years ago has added “Bahama Blue” and “Emerald Green” to it’s best-selling lineup.
“It’s not about nuts and bolts anymore, now people buy with their eyes,” said Nationwide’s VP for Appliances, Adam Thomas. “This is the single largest launch of new laundry products in the history of PrimeTime.” Over 3,000 Nationwide members have perused the new offerings, some of which claim to do an entire load, washed and dried, in 36 minutes.
