"Major Impact" Seen For Verizon iPhone
The arrival of the iPhone on Verizon is expected to very much affect the U.S. wireless service market, with 16 percent of AT&T customers saying they will switch to Verizon once the device is available.
According to a ChangeWave survey taken in the days before the announcement and released Thursday, 15 percent of both AT&T and T-Mobile customers said they were likely to switch providers in the next 90 days, compared to only 4 percent for Verizon. And when AT&T wireless customers specifically were asked whether they would switch carriers in the event of a Verizon iPhone, 16 percent said yes (60 percent said no.)
The 15 percent of AT&T subscribers who plan to switch is up from 10 percent in September and is the highest that number has been since the survey began in June 2009.
