As Holiday Spending Ramps Up, Retail Confidence Continues to Rise
Led by the continued surge of independent store owners, the Dealerscope CE Retail Confidence Index continued its climb heading into November. The DS Index rose another six points to 198.96 this month, more than 13 points above the survey’s score from last year at the same time.
This is exceptionally positive news for the retail industry, which is expected to see revenue from the holiday shopping season increase an estimated 5.6 percent to some $1.1 trillion.
“We’re already seeing much more consumer activity and interest,” one retailer said. “Sales have been rising for over six months. We're in a northern state so winter will affect car and some sport sales, but holiday sales are poised to soar.”
