Astell&Kern’s SA700 Hi-Res Audio Player Reinterprets an Original
Astell&Kern is introducing the Model SA700 Portable High Resolution Audio Player, which the company is characterizing as a tribute to – a reinterpretation of - the original Astell&Kern first-generation AK120 player which was issued seven years ago – but with this iteration featuring the latest technologies.
Design highlights include a string bridge motif wheel protector like original AK120 with an intuitive LED volume wheel, and also dual AK4492 DACs support up to 32bit/384kHz PCM and DSD256 playback
Debuting in 2013, the original AK120 was the first portable player in the world to feature dual DACs. This new model offers the latest DAC and amplifier design technology, while retaining the nostalgic, original look of the AK120.
Building on the classic design of the AK120, the SA700 features a volume wheel that allows users to experience the evolution of Astell&Kern’s signature analog design. Inspired by string bridges, the protection ridges and LED lighting around the volume wheel combine to create a classic experience. The LED on the volume wheel goes beyond simple visual effects and serves as an intuitive indicator of information about the song being played and the volume level. And depending on the bit depth of the song currently being played, the LED will light up in different colors of red, green, blue, and purple, and depending on the volume, the color saturation of the LED changes as you raise or lower the volume with 150 levels of color intensity. The display features a graphic user interface (GUI) that embodies the red and orange colors associated with Astell&Kern.
The SA700 retails for $1,299 is now available at authorized Astell&Kern dealers in the U.S. and Canada and from the Astell&Kern’s U.S. e-store at us.astellnkern.com.
