At a New York-held Holidays in June event this week, Philips fielded an array of its own-branded LCD TVs, sound bars, and two Blu-ray players which are being made and distributed by Funai’s P&F subsidiary.
These products are alongside various audio products being marketed by Philips Consumer Lifestyle which include headphones, iPod-dock solutions, portable A/V and DVD players and its Streamium network music players.
The TV models, rolling out currently and into the summer and fall, include four LCD series. On view was the 1080p 32-inch 120Hz 32PFL6704 ($699) – part of the 6000 series. The 3000 series are the entry-level models, the 5000 series are mid-range, and the 6000 and 7000 series constitute the high end, with models in the 7000 range carrying Halo-free chip technology said to reduce halo artifacts that can occur at 120Hz. Both the 6000 and 7000 series offer a 45 percent thinner bezel than last year’s Philips models, and all TVs are Energy Star 3.0-compliant.
