AT&T Ad Goes After Verizon
AT&T is already fighting Verizon Wireless' "There's a Map For That" campaign in court, but now the carrier has struck back at its rival in an advertisement of its own, touting AT&T as "a better 3G experience."
Featuring actor Luke Wilson, the AT&T ad, which debuted earlier this week, has Wilson standing in front of a checklist with "AT&T" and "Verizon" at the top. As Wilson goes through the criteria of who gives customers the best 3G experience. For "the nation's fastest 3G network," ability to talk and surf the Web at the same time, "the most popular smartphones," and "access to over 100,000 apps," Wilson places an X next to AT&T's box, while granting Verizon only "name that starts with the letter V."
While the Verizon ads have slammed the iPhone, the AT&T advertisement does not mention the AT&T-exclusive device specifically, but clearly refers to the iPhone in terms of "most popular smartphone" and access to the apps.
