Attitudes from the Editor
On May 24, I will resign as Dealerscope's editor-in-chief in anticipation of my first child being born in June. Grant Clauser, editor-in-chief of Dealerscope's sister consumer magazine, E-Gear, will become editor-in-chief of Dealerscope as well. Grant will be backed by David Dritsas, who will be promoted from senior editor to editor for both magazines. I will remain involved as a monthly freelance contributor to Dealerscope as editor at large.
It's very strange how life's cycle goes round. My grandmother, Janet "Nana" Davidson, for whom I am named, died three days before I was married in May 2000. Now my grandfather, Jerry "Papa" Davidson, my mentor as I learned this job and this industry, is gone as I prepare to leave Dealerscope and enter the next, new phase of my life.
It was a clear day in Thornton, Colo., in early March when my cell phone rang and I answered a call from my mother, who told me that Papa died earlier that morning after a long, slow descent into physical frailty. He was 88.
