People have asked me: what do you think CES is going to be like this year? Well, industry innovation hasn't stopped, and the Consumer Electronics Association, terrorists be damned, is offering an action-packed conference and speaker schedule.
Senior Editor David Dritsas and Associate Editor Collin Keefe came back last month from a COMDEX of bag searches and bomb-sniffing dogs. COMDEX, they said, was indeed quieter, but still huge, yet more manageable. There was plenty of new consumer product but the economy had eliminated the vaporware. Companies instead packed more features and/or technologies into existing products, instead of going pie-in-the-sky. We expect to see a similar trend at CES.
But what really pulls us to CES is is not the perennial Bill Gates pre-show keynote or the glitzy booth displays, but the people, this crazy community in which we all operate. To illustrate, the Dealerscope staff sat down and came up with:
