Guess who was at the 2002 International CES? The gaming industry. Gaming was all over the CES showfloor, and to top it off, the Interactive Entertainment Merchants Association (IEMA) held its board meeting on site at CES this year, invited by CES organizers. IEMA represents 80 percent of the industry's gaming buyers.
The gaming industry has said in the past that CES doesn't deliver the gaming buyer. That's a myth and/or an out-dated truth.
Convergence is not a term but a reality. The gaming industry should have never left CES. It's so obvious now, but in the early 1990s, people didn't foresee where we were headed, where we are now. They were too busy bitching and moaning as they waded through the floodwaters to get to the port-o-lets outside of the tent where CES had housed gaming exhibitors.
