August Introduces its Next Generation Smart Doorbell
After over a year since they released any new hardware, August is back with their latest smart video doorbell, the August View. This time around, the designs have a slimmer, less obvious approach than the first generation. They also come in eight different colors (four metal and four colored) to match any home’s façade.
The new wireless model boasts a 1440p sensor for a high-resolution stream of your doorstep that is sent directly to your smartphone. Since the device is wireless, it must be recharged periodically via micro-USB cable.
Other key features include instant motion alerts, minimal fisheye distortion, a zoom feature, a class doorbell chime, and various subscription plans that allow users to go back in time to access certain footage. Tight integration also allows users to unlock the door for guests –even when they are not home– by using the View alongside an August smart lock.
"August remains committed to offering platform agnostic products. We are working with Google and Amazon and plan to have integrations with the Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa live once the View is available for purchase on March 28, 2019," August told Apple Insider. "We continue to work with Apple to explore integration opportunities with our doorbell cameras."
