Automatic Labs, a SiriusXM company, has made its Connected Car Assistant – along with its install-it-yourself adapter and mobile app – available across the country via several major retailers in addition to selling it at the Automatic.com web site.
Its $99.99 price tag includes three years of Automatic Select Service including Crash Alert, engine light diagnostics and more, in addition to six months’ premium service which encompasses roadside assistance as well as real-time location monitoring and sharing.
The Assistant, powered by AT&T’s nationwide LTE-M connectivity, is compatible with most vehicles of the model year 1996 and later, making the cars privy to a suite of Automatic safety and convenience features.
Crash Alert detects crashes and enablers responders to get in touch with the driver so that emergency services can be dispatched; it will also contact the driver’s list of emergency contacts.
Roadside assistance sends towing and other services to the location where needed.
Real-time vehicle location monitoring and sharing, another function, pinpoints a parked car’s location.
Engine-light diagnostics and vehicle performance monitoring offer insights into a car’s performance and can pinpoint the source of a Check Engine light alert.
The system will integrate with a host of smart-home devices, enabling tasks such as garage door opening and closing and thermostat adjustment. Another convenience feature is cashless toll payment processing, powered by Automatic subsidiary PayTollo.
The system is also designed to self-update when new software is available.
The system is available for sale direct to consumers and also via the Automatic Dealer Program, a service bundle that car dealers can provide to customers along with new and pre-owned vehicle purchases.
