Azione Conference, in Second Day, Focuses on Disruption
NEW ORLEANS- On the second day of its three-day Fall Fete conference in New Orleans, buying group Azione Unlimited Wednesday dealt with the issue of disruptive technologies, how they have affected the business of the integrators present, and how those integrators can turn such innovations to their advantage.
On Wednesday morning, David Daniels of Xssentials led a discussion in which the attendees, table-by-table, were asked to talk about which recent disruptive technologies have affected their business. The most commonly-named technologies included the rise of Sonos' multi-room audio product a few years ago and, more recently, the Nest thermostat and Philips Hue IP-connected light bulbs.
So what can dealers and integrators do? Daniels suggested they "be more visible to our clients about what value we can provide." During a room-wide wrap-up discussion, Noah Kaplan of manufacturer Leon Speakers suggested that integrators "leverage disruptive technology and make it not disruptive for customers," possibly be adding some sort of concierge service.
