CE business-to-business Web sites are on the rise, seeking to provide a forum or outlet for businesses to purchase or purge inventory.
While consumer-oriented e-commerce garners the glitzy media attention, the Internet's impact on business-to-business, or B2B, operations is growing. According to a study by the Gartner Group, Inc., in 1999, worldwide B2B e-commerce reached $145 billion, while the North American region accounted for $91 billion or 63 percent.
