Sovus also deploys video and voice-over-internet protocol (V2OIP) technologies. "Two-way communication between the transceiver and the operator utilizes Digital Spread Spectrum technology with Frequency Hopping," says Hammer. "The transceivers continuously scan the operating frequencies for the clearest channel, eliminating the worry of signal drop out."
He adds that equipment required includes an broadband internet-connected PC with speaker and microphone and Sovus Media Center software, as well as on-site equipment: one to four cameras; up to six optional wireless 2.4GHz transceivers with plugs for standard head and earphone headsets; transceiver charging cradles and headsets with microphones.
"The headsets are designed specifically so that the interaction between sales associate and customer can be monitored. The associates are fully aware of the process," he says. "Each location is posted so that customers are also aware that the monitoring is taking place."
