Batteries - The Year in Review
For 2001, Fred Kramer, Sanyo manager of business development, said he predicts the continued success of these two lines, as well as growth in the popularity of lithium batteries. Lithium batteries are lighter in weight and smaller in size than nickel batteries. Kramer said he believes that for this reason lithium will become more common in cell phones, securing lithium sales well into the new millennium.
Ultralife's best-selling battery has been its 9-volt lithium battery, as it's responsible for approximately two-thirds of Ultralife's sales. The company claims this battery has a lifetime four times longer than a 9-volt alkaline battery. In a smoke detector, it will hold power for 10 years.
Ultralife is also looking forward to another year with its two models of Polymer rechargeable replacement batteries for Nokia's 5100, 6100 and 7100 series.
