Beats by Dr.Dre has introduced its own take on a completely wireless earphone through the new Powerbeats Pro. Designed with the help of both Beats and Apple engineers, Powerbeats Pro offers extended battery life, advanced functionality, and reliable connectivity packed inside a compact earphone with Beats’ signature, earhook fit.
Both Apple and Beats wanted to make the main focus of the Powerbeats Pro about sound quality. The two teams re-engineered the earphones to include an upgraded piston driver to produce a powerful acoustic response. Enhanced sound quality also means low distortion and a dynamic range across the frequency curve.
Each individual earphone also features volume and track controls whereas some earphones only have these capabilities on one side. From there users can access their music and make phone calls, and pause both by removing the earphones completely. The attention to detail extends to the earphones’ new functionality that recognizes a users voice during a phone call, and filters out external sounds like wind and ambient noise.
The Bluetooth earphones also include Apple’s new H1 chip. Beats users can ask for assistance by saying “Hey Siri,” and experience faster and more stable wireless connection. To get started with the setup process, all you have to do is open the lid for the Powerbeats Pro case, and pairing will automatically begin on devices connected to an iCloud account.
“Powerbeats Pro is a harmonious blend of premium sound, fit and functionality. Powerbeats are already the #1 fitness headphones in the world and they are now untethered, with all the benefits of the Apple H1 chip,” said Luke Wood, president of Beats. “No longer do you have to choose between performance and practicality – it delivers the best on both fronts.”
Powerbeats Pro earphones will be available in black, ivory, moss and navy for $249.95. Availability will begin in May from apple.com and Apple stores.
