Best Buy Eyes Electric Cars
Best Buy has branched out into several nontraditional product areas in recent years, from electric bikes to musical instruments. But is the CE retail giant's next move an entry into electric cars?
Best Buy is "actively talking" to manufacturing partners about a move into that market, a company executive told the Wall Street Journal in a piece published Friday. In the interview, the company's senior director of environmental affairs, Leo Raudys, described the cars as "basically computers on wheels," and said the company is "very serious" about the business.
The company did not say which brands it would sell, what the timing was for the launch, or how the cars will be showcased.
