Best Buy Baseball Replay Deal Called Off
A deal Best Buy had made to provide instant replay in a minor league baseball All-Star Game was scrapped earlier week, according to the Minnesota news Web site MinnPost.com.
The plan, which would have entailed Best Buy Mobile providing the home plate umpire with instant replay on a cell phone in the American Association All-Star Game, was scrapped because “Best Buy couldn’t guarantee a crisp enough picture.” That’s according to a spokesman for the St. Paul Saints, who hosted the game at Midway Stadium in St. Paul on Tuesday.
The deal to provide the replay had been announced last month. Major League Baseball has been debating whether to add instant replay for regular and postseason games.
