Best Buy Catches Another Predator
There has been yet another case in which a customer handing in his computer to be fixed at Best Buy has led to the discovery of child pornography, and the customer’s arrest.
This time, according to the Associated Press, the arrest took place on Long Island. A man named German Zamora, 24, allegedly took his computer to Best Buy for service, at which point a technician found the pornography. The technician alerted Nassau County Police, who then arrested Zamora; when reached by the AP, Zamora claimed someone had “messed with” his computer.
Several similar cases have made the news recently, including a Pennsylvania case in which a man was arrested on similar charges after Circuit City employees found child porn on his computer. The Pennsylvania Supreme Court found in August that the evidence could indeed be used against the defendant; a lower court had earlier ruled that it could not.
