Best Buy Debuts 3D Ad
Best Buy debuted an advertisement for a new Toshiba notebook featuring what is known as "augmented reality"- the notebook appears in 3D to anyone viewing the image through a webcam.
A Best Buy executive told Advertising Age that around 6,500 customers viewed the ad through a webcam, out of the ad's circulation of 43 million.
The executive, director of brand identity, print and design Spencer Knisely, characterized the move as an attempt to find new was to use the traditional newspaper advertising medium. He also said that the company will probably use the technology again.
