Best Buy Launches 'Blackout Prevention'
Best Buy Monday announced that it has launched a campaign to educate consumers ahead of the new DTV transition date on June 12. The initiative, called Blackout Prevention, entails information on TV screens in the actual store, as well as further in-store events in 25 cities.
The effort will include special videos, on TVs in the stores' home theater sections, showing consumers what their TV looks like without a digital signal. In addition, the 25 largest cities will be the site of "additional awareness efforts," including an hourly public-address announcement.
