Best Buy Launches Pilot Program for In-Home Tech Consultations
- Best Buy launches in-home consultation pilot program
- In-Home Advisors will offer advice and a customized tech-upgrade plan
- Service is available in three cities for now: Atlanta, Austin, and San Antonio
One thing that I’ve heard from numerous dealers and consumer electronics retailers that I’ve worked with in the last year is that, as they look to remain viable in a world where product is a click away, they’re realizing that a commitment to customer service is beyond crucial. Not just customer service in the sense of providing a pleasant in-store experience. Rather, customer service that dives deeper and provides a specialized, even individualized, experience.
Take what Best Buy is now committing itself to. Just this week, and amid concerns over its future outlook, the company announced that it had launched a new in-home consultation service. The pilot program is available in just three cities right now—Atlanta, Austin, and San Antonio—and here’s how it works: Best Buy will send an In-Home Advisor to a potential client's home for free, and that individual is available to assist in a number of ways, including answering questions about new technology, explaining the benefits of new products and services, and help build a customized plan to outfit a person’s home with the latest tech.
