Best Buy Names Joly CEO
Best Buy late Sunday announced that it has named Hubert Joly, formerly of restaurant giant Carlson, as its new CEO, the Wall Street Journal reported.
Joly, at Carlson, oversaw the Radisson and T.G.I. Friday's brands, among others. His appointment follows a search that began with the resignation earlier this year of former CEO Brian Dunn.
The announcement of the hiring of Joly coincides with the latest in the back-and-forth between the company and founder Richard Schulze, who has been attempting a takeover. Best Buy issued a statement Sunday that its board "offered an opportunity to founder Richard Schulze to conduct due diligence and pursue his expressed interest in acquiring outstanding shares in the company, but Mr. Schulze declined to participate."
