Best Buy Opens Ten New Stores
Bucking a CE retail industry trend that has seen numerous store closings already this year, Best Buy last week opened ten new locations throughout the country. The openings took place last Friday.
Other than Austin and Nashville, the locations are all in rural areas, which had previously been underserved. Best Buy has put stores in Auburn, Maine; Marysville, Ohio; Midlothian, Va.; Nampa, Idaho; Papillon, Neb.; Rogers, Minn.; Tarentum, Pa, and West Jordan, Utah.
Several of Best Buy’s rivals, including Circuit City, CompUSA and Tweeter, have announced massive store closings so far this year. Wal*Mart, though, also plans to increase its store footprint.
