Best Buy, Others Plan Early Black Friday Sale Release
Stymied by Web leaks of Black Friday advertising circulars, several major retailers are planning a preemptive strike- they’re releasing their sale price information earlier than the traditional Thanksgiving Day. According to The Toledo Blade, Best Buy and Wal*Mart are among the major retailers who will announce their specials early this year.
Last month, Wal*Mart pursued another weapon against Black Friday leaks- the company threatened to sue any Web site or other entity that leaked the company’s circulars ahead of time. The treat seems to have worked, as no leaks have yet emerged.
Best Buy will release its Black Friday circulars on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, 24 hours earlier than usual; Wal*Mart has not said exactly when its ads will appear.
