Best Buy Plans to Ramp Up Apple Presence
Best Buy is planning to significantly expand its partnership with Apple this year, with Mac computers in nearly twice as many stores. That’s according to an analyst with UBS who interviewed company executives, as reported by CNET.
According to the report, the chain hopes to put Apple displays in 500 of its stores by next February, up from around 270 now. It’s an expansion of a program in which Apple places its own, Mac-centric retail displays in Best Buy locations; that program was itself expanded last fall, with Apple also agreeing to discontinue a similar program at Circuit City.
The partnership has, thus far, been highly beneficial for both sides, with both the Mac and Best Buy having huge sales years in 2007.
