Best Buy and Shopkick this week announced that the latter company's signal technology and mobile app have both launched in selected markets. Best Buy, along with Macy's, had announced their participation in April.
The application gives consumers rewards points when they walk into a store, and also lets them know about specials available. It was demonstrated this week in San Francisco, with more markets to come this summer.
"Best Buy was the first retailer to share in our vision that the future of retail lies in mobile. Now, consumers can get rewarded not just for shopping, but simply for walking into a store," Shopkick's CEO, Cyriac Roeding, said as part of the announcement.
