Best Buy Edges Walmart in Survey
A new survey heading into the holiday shopping season finds that Best Buy is slightly ahead of Walmart in terms of popularity for households seeking to buy TVs or other CE products.
According to Scarborough Research, of customers who plan to purchase HDTVs, smartphones or mp3 players, 40 percent shopped Best Buy, with Walmart right behind at 39 percent. Target was third at 23 percent followed by RadioShack (12 percent), Sam's Club and Sears (both 10 percent) and Kmart and Costco (9 percent each.)
Scarborough also found that HDTV household penetration has tripled since 2007, with 48 percent of households owning them, while twice as many households own smartphones.
