Best Buy, Staples Debut Super Bowl Ads
Consumer electronics retailers and manufacturers were once again all over the commercials of the Super Bowl broadcast Sunday. A roundup:
- Best Buy debuted its first Super Bowl ad ever, for its upcoming Buy Back Program, which featured music stars young (Justin Bieber) and old (Ozzy Osbourne.) The ad pokes fun at 3G, 4G, and the confusion of "G"s, with Ozzy asking "how many bloody Gs are there?," until a mysterious bearded character (played by Bieber himself) points out that the singer "kind of looks like a girl."
- Staples debuted its new focus on consumer technology with a new spot featuring computers, monitors and other such products flying into a Staples store like birds. Touting "highly trained tech experts" and the company's EasyTech tech support centers, Staples ends the commercial with the slogan "Easy to Buy, Easy to Fix, Easy to Save."
