Best Buy Sales Soar
In an announcement coinciding with the start of CES, Best Buy said Friday that its December sales jumped 8.2 percent over the same period the year before, with revenue soaring 13 percent.
Revenue during the month reached $8.5 billion, a full $1 billion higher than the same period in 2008. The CE category rose 4.5 percent, while appliances jumped 16.2 percent in comparable stores.
The news wasn't entirely good for the company, however, as its stock actually dropped a couple of points on Friday, after the company did not raise its profit forecast for the year, according to MarketWatch.
