New models of Beyerdynamic over-ear and in-ear headphones made their debuts at the recent CES, with an eye to reaching the U.S. market this spring.
The over-ear Bluetooth LAGOON ANC ($399) features a combination of customized sound and digital active noise cancelling with hybrid technology to eliminate exterior sounds.
Proprietary MOSAYC sound personalization, a technology that is also part of the performance equation, enables tailoring of the headphones to fit an individual’s profile. Via the MIY app, the user is led through a listening test that helps to gauge sound preferences and hearing capability, guiding the listener in adapting the headphones accordingly. The headphones are to be available in two versions, Traveler (black/blue) and Explorer (grey/brown).
Beyerdynamic’s BYRDLAND compact headphones grouping includes the Beat BYRD, Soul BYRD, Blue BYRD and Blue BYRD ANC, and ranges from entry-level models to a neckband design. The Soul BYRD ($89) offers a three-button remote that permits access to phone calls and control of virtual assistants like Google and Siri. Its extra-flat in-ear design helps to keep unwanted, extraneous noise out of the ear canal as well as providing an added measure of comfort if worn while sleeping, says the company.
The Bluetooth Blue BYRD, just like the LAGOON ANC, offers MOSAYC sound personalization, and active noise cancelling is added in the Blue BYRD ANC active noise cancelling bigger brother Blue BYRD ANC.
