BlackBerries Suffer Another Outage
For the second time in less than a year, Research in Motion’s BlackBerry network’s servers collapsed Monday, the New York Times reported.
The server shutdown only affected about half of customers; service had been restored to most customers by Monday night. Preliminary investigation by the company determined that the outage was likely caused by trouble with the installation of new software on the company’s servers. An attempt to switch to a backup server failed as well.
Last April, BlackBerry’s network suffered a “massive system failure,” that lasted more than 24 hours and blocked service for just about every U.S. customer.
