RIM Tablet Coming Soon, With New OS
BlackBerry maker Research in Motion will unveil its competitor to the iPad as early as next week, the Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday.
The product, which has rumored to be called the "BlackPad," would be unveiled at the company's developer conference in San Francisco, before arriving in the fourth quarter. It is said to be 7 inches, with Bluetooth capability and at least one camera.
It will also run software by QNX Software Systems, a company recently acquired by RIM, rather than BlackBerry's own established OS. The Journal's sources added that the company will slowly transition its BlackBerry phones to the software, despite the recent introduction of the BlackBerry 6 operating system.
