BlackBerry's parent company posted a 33 percent jump in profit in the most recent quarter, as the company's fortunes were boosted by consumer demand as well as nearly 4 million new subscribers.
According to the Wall Street Journal, 80 percent of Research in Motion's new subscribers in the quarter were consumers. The company posted a $643 million profit, on sales of $3.42 billion.
