When it comes to sales of discs, Blu-ray is ahead of format war rival HD DVD by a wide margin, Reuters reported, citing statistics from Home Media Research.
The research found that Blu-ray outsold HD DVD by a 2-to-1 margin in the first nine months of 2007. However, analysts quoted expected the gap to close in the coming months, now that Paramount and DreamWorks have moved exclusively to the HD DVD camp, and with the release of the popular movie “The Transformers,” which has come out only on HD DVD.
“Transformers” sold over 100,000 copies on HD DVD on its first day of release last Tuesday.
