Barnes & Noble is going with a consumer electronics industry veteran as its new chief executive officer.
Ron Boire was a Sony executive for 17 years (through 2003), and spent three years with Best Buy. After a three-year stint as CEO of Brookstone that ended in 2012, Boire took over as CEO of Sears Canada last October. Now, he comes to Barnes and Noble, were he will take over in September.
“I believe Ron’s extensive experience throughout all facets of the retail industry, combined with his leadership ability and proven track record, make him an ideal Chief Executive for Barnes & Noble,” Leonard Riggio, Chairman of Barnes & Noble, Inc., in a statement.
