Boingo to Offer Flat Rate For Wi-Fi
A Wi-Fi aggregation company called Boingo is making a first-of-its-kind offer: a worldwide flat rate for Wi-Fi access throughout the world, the New York Times reported.
Called “Boingo Global,” the service will allow Wi-Fi users to log on at over 100,000 hot spots worldwide for a monthly fee of $39 (or 29 euros, in Europe,) with no roaming charges. The number of available hot spots include 27,000 in North America, 23,000 in Asia, and 51,000 in the rest of the world, including Europe, the MidEast, and Africa. The plan is pitched to business travelers who frequently travel among different cities and countries.
Competing aggregators, including Cloud, are also planning to roll out flat-rate plans as well, the Times reported.
