Bose Unveils New Portable Home Speaker Following Sonos Leak
On the heels of a recent Sonos speaker leak, Bose today announced a Bluetooth speaker of its own: the Bose Portable Home Speaker. The $349 speaker is WiFi and Bluetooth compatible, and supports Google Assistant, Amazon’s Alexa, AirPlay 2, and Spotify Connect. Using WiFi, listeners can enjoy their favorite playlists, podcasts, news, weather, and more through simple voice commands. The Bose proprietary pick-up system will perform the appropriate requests using these built-in voice assistants.
The Bose Portable Home Speaker provides up to 12 hours of battery life for all day listening both indoors and outdoors, despite what its name suggests. With an IPX4 rating, the speaker is sturdy enough to withstand, drops, kicks, spills, rain, and many other outside forces. Not to mention, its modern, lightweight design packs a punch with 360-degree sound and a deeper bass than any other speaker its size.
“Every Bose smart speaker is Bluetooth and Wi-Fi enabled, but the Portable is the first to offer a rechargeable battery — along with a short list of features everyone wants and loves,” said Ben Burns, senior product manager for Bose speakers. “We lived with it like anyone else would — with our families and friends, away from work — to make sure it was the kind of product we wanted to use, day after day. It was. And we think people who take it home will feel the same way.”
