The group, which realized $14 billion in overall sales, experienced robust unit growth in TVs, with unit sales up 28 percent and dollars up 10 percent year over year, said Ristow. Lawrence added that the replacement-appliance business is also a bright spot. Business conditions, however, “continue to be tough, but toward the end of the year, should look better,” commented Lawrence.
“We’re promoting more than we ever have,” added Ristow, saying the group just concluded a three-million Samsung tab run for its membership, with more tabs to follow featuring Toshiba, Mitsubishi and other major suppliers’ products.
HES initiatives with its new ally, the PRO Group, include an upcoming co-located Expo reception at CEDIA Expo, educational seminar and best business practice “sharing sessions,” and a joint trip to Japan in October.
