During their executive leadership conference in Phoenix last week, BrandSource executives called on their teambuilding, philanthropy, and sports skills to have a little bit of fun and raise some money for a local charity. In the end, the more than 150 participants came together to raise over $6,000 for House of Refuse, a nonprofit that provides transitional housing and supportive services to homeless families in the Phoenix area.
The event itself, sponsored by BrandSource and Whirlpool, was a unique activity. The executives broke into teams of 10 and were asked to create their best mini-golf course using a variety of materials that included canned goods, nonperishable items, green astro-turf, hardware tools, glue, duct tape, cardboard, markers, and several other craft-related tools. Additional stations were available with paint, angle piping, PVC corners, and several other items.
“This was an incredibly creative, fun and unique team-building exercise that also made a positive impact on many people’s lives,” Jim Ristow, CEO of BrandSource, said in a statement. “Everyone who participated enjoyed kicking off the holiday season in the true spirit of giving.”
