Audiovox corporation of Hauppauge, N.Y., has this morning agreed to acquire the consumer electronics business from Thomson for the amount of $50 million plus a five-year fee related to the RCA brand in the consumer electronics accessories field. This acquisition will add $150 million in annual sales to Audiovox, which has also acquired from Thomson the rights to the consumer electronics lines including the Recoton Discwasher, Spikemaster and Ambico brands as well as the rights for the Jensen, Advent, Acoustic Research and Road Gear brands for consumer electronics accessories. The rights for use of the Jensen, Advent, Acoustic Research and Road Gear brands for CE products were acquired in a previous deal.
