Brilliant’s Builder Program Aims to Accelerate Smart Home Adoption
Smart home control company Brilliant has announced the launch of its national Builder Program, which would impact new-construction projects by aiding home builders in pinpointing homeowners’ smart home needs at the earliest stages and in incorporating the technology as part of a simplified installation process.
This initiative, announced at this week’s Pacific Coast Builders Conference, is designed to tap into needs unearthed by the company’s research, which showed interest in smart home technology among both younger and older buyers. The company found that 86 percent of new-home buyers, aged 36 and younger, are willing to pay more for a smart home versus a traditional home. It also found that the vast majority of first-time home buyers want a “move-in ready” home with little or no need to renovate. In addition, Brilliant said, home buyers aged 37 to 50 desire to live in a larger home with modern living amenities and smart home technology integrated throughout.
New-construction projects the program could benefit include single-family homes, apartment buildings, condos, and assisted-living units, by helping builders craft specific smart home packages with customized technology that would fit homeowners’ needs, including smart lighting, integrated door locks, thermostat controls, music systems, climate control, video doorbells, and more.
Brilliant’s aim, according to the company’s launch statement, is to streamline builders’ smart home strategy by delivering a unifying control in key locations of the home to maximize user convenience and experience, and to collaborate to develop smart home ecosystems to fit square footage and budget while engaging buyers and realtors.
Brilliant says it also can assist builders developing communities with model homes by providing discounted demo units and eligibility for volume pricing. The company is also offering a time-bound discount Accommodation Program, to help foster product understanding and evangelism that can boost smart home sales.
Brilliant is also offering a variety of marketing assets for web sites, social media templates, collateral, and buyer materials to help promote the concept and understanding of integrated smart homes, and says it can deliver training for installers, realtors and warranty teams to ensure the delivery of an excellent customer experience.
