Patrick Maloney, Senior Vice President, Appliances, Nationwide: We’re up, year over year, driven by price increases in Q1 of 2014 – so people bought heavy in Q4 of 2013. Also we’re seeing big pushes from the Big Five – the three domestics, plus LG and Samsung. We’re seeing them getting out earlier in the year, setting their floors and coming with a consistent plan to sell for our dealers, so that they can see a path to profitability for each brand.
Sendrak: Preliminary indications are that business is doing well. By January, a big part of the country was hit by severe weather last year, which you don’t ever make back in sales. Almost the whole 2014 first quarter was affected. A lot of dealers are reporting much better comp sales so far this year. It’s off to a good start.
Glikes: We’re up dramatically, in the mid-30s – 33 percent over last year; we’re killin’. Construction is the key, and people are buying the big house again; we’re right in that sweet spot. It’s almost at capacity; members have more work than they have people.
This will be our third-year anniversary, and we have 103 dealers [as of February]. I expect to finish the year at 150 dealers. And we’re now the exclusive buying group for Savant, and that’s a good thing and will pique dealers’ interest about our group. We’re doing a lot of things right and the vendors are very happy, and the dealers are achieving margins and additional profit dollars that they hadn’t in the past. We’re on a roll.
