“Everybody is trying to drive costs down, but you have to be careful not to lose the ability to service your customers,” Player said.
To drive traffic, Queen City continues to work closely with local Chambers of Commerce and will host about 300 members of Rock City group during the grand opening. The company is also beefing up its Web site and working on getting more placements on the sites of other local businesses and organizations. Queen City will also continue its advertising program with the NFC’s Carolina Panthers.
Trawick cited recent reports from the Stevens Group stating the housing market could strengthen during the second half of 2009 and into 2010, which could lead to a seven to eight percent increase in appliance sales by 2011. “So we struggle for another year and we should get back some of the numbers we saw a year and half ago,” he said.
