Working together to create standards for mobile electronics
By Chris Cook and Stephen Witt
How can the automotive industry and the mobile consumer electronics industry work together to provide consumers with up-to-date mobile electronics products and more advanced and safer automobiles?
The answer begins with formalizing a relationship between two key industry associations—CEA (Consumer Electronics Association) and SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers). CEA represents the interests of the mobile electronics manufacturers and service providers, while SAE represents the engineering and design interests of the automotive industry. Both organizations have a successful history of developing and setting standards in their respective industries, and now have formed a working relationship under a formal memorandum of understanding to explore this opportunity.
