CE 2003 Year in Review
Wes Dittmer, senior director, PCS division of Sprint
Currently, Sprint offers PCS WiFi access in approximately 500 hot spots across the country, with over 2,100 hot spots expected by early 2004. Sprint sees WiFi as a complementary service to PCS Vision data services and represents an opportunity for growth in the wireless data market and an increasing appetite for access to wireless data. Together, these two services will help address the need for broad national wireless data coverage and multi-megabit speeds where customers need it most. Sprint feels it is still early in the evolution of the technology to really know how big WiFi is going to be at this point, but we do expect PCS Wi-Fi access to be a very compelling part of our portfolio of wireless products and services.
