CE at Inauguration Day
It was a cold, damp day, but the Republicans were rejoicing as George W. Bush took his oath as President of the United States January 20, 2001. Down in front were some familiar industry faces, and tucked amid the hoopla were some familiar products.
Tom Campbell, who served as an advisor to the inaugural committee, said Panasonic donated Astrovision displays for use during the inauguration, and Zenith provided 60-inch HDTVs for teleprompters for use during the opening ceremony and President Bush's swearing in. Samsung's new fLCD sets and 40-inch LCD displays were used in VIP holding rooms. Despite the rain and damp, the consumer-grade sets performed beautifully, according to Campbell.
