CE Positive, But Consumer Confidence Stays Mixed
Consumer confidence- especially for the consumer electronics space- is strong heading into the holidays, according to CEA numbers released Tuesday. However, news from outside CEA was less positive.
The CEA Index of Consumer Technology Expectations (ICTE) rose 2.7 points in November, CEA said. Meanwhile, the overall CEA Index of Consumer Expectations (ICE) jumped 4.7 points, to its highest level in three years.
“Tech spending sentiment is up heading into the Black Friday weekend – the most important tech shopping weekend of the year,” Shawn DuBravac, CEA’s chief economist and senior director of research, said as part of the announcement. “Tech is challenging other popular product categories, such as clothing, as the big winner this holiday shopping weekend.”
